BY LUCK

This project is a product of several efforts to connect the human agency with the perception of space. The initial question of how people interpret their lives, in terms of luck or free will, had to develop in a real place. ‘By Luck’ developed in a human scale maze. The spectators had to go through a certain path, as dictated, in order to find an exit. The first part of this experiment was to let people follow whichever way they chose. The second part was to make each person follow a certain path, from entrance to exit. Both parts were examined and the participants were asked how they felt and the difficulties they faced by going through. It was obvious that people felt differently from each other, by either being manipulated or being let free.

Another experiment involved a digital maze, where the viewer would enter in a larger construction, trying again to find the exit through different paths. Within his way, he would find signals of recognitions, such as arrows, signs on the maze walls, or objects (roses), which would either help him find a way out, or mislead him.
